The most wonderful place for a retreat of art and for being creative. Kate and the family are so caring and absolutely lovely to stay with. I booked a gilding course with her father, the wonderful Roger Newton. It was so much fun! The stay in the beautifully furnished apartment was simply a dream, and during the course, Kate treated us to the most delicious dishes. The Shropshire countryside is perfect for walks, and the nearby pub, "The Mill," is not only historic and cozy, but also serves delicious food. All in all, simply perfect and I would gladly return!

The most amazing, creative experience. I learnt so much in the most extraordinary setting. Kate looked after us all beautifully and was so quick to respond to any of our questions or needs. I couldn’t recommend any of her courses more! The house, the course and especially Kate are absolute heaven!

I signed up for the gilding course and it was a fantastic three days. What a wonderful family. The gilding tuition was 5 * and the homemade lunches exceptional. We were a full quota of 8 students from far and wide and I hope they enjoyed the learning curve as much as I did. Definitely recommend!

Absolutely the best! Roger is a World class teacher for gilding in particular and it’s a joy to spend time with Roger and Kate. Wonderfully catered and cared for as a student. Master the Art also has a range of incredible courses covering different crafts as well as their own Gilding and Paint Finishes Courses. Truly exceptional, I thoroughly enjoyed my three days there and left feeling confident and inspired!

Absolutely delighted with my experience from Master The Art! From the moment I walked in, the service was exceptional—friendly, knowledgeable, and always eager to help. The attention to detail is unmatched, and you can truly see the care and passion that goes into each product. I’m particularly in love with the paper flowers—they are absolutely stunning! Each one is meticulously crafted, with vibrant colors and intricate designs that really make them stand out. I can’t recommend this place enough for anyone want to learn to make unique, high-quality handmade crafts. I’ll definitely be returning for more!

I cannot recommend Master The Art more. Kate is incredibly welcoming and her courses are very inspiring. Don't be nervous if you are a total beginner. The three courses I have done have been very enjoyable and I did not want to leave! We were spoilt with very good teachers, log fires, coffee, delicious lunch, cake and tea!

Spending time with the fabulous father and daughter duo that is Roger and Kate is just a delicious joy in itself - but the levels of expertise and fabulous teaching from the pair truly is second to none. Oh, and I should add that it was all enormous fun too! I'll definitely be back for more...and in the meantime, I'm really enjoying putting my new found 'paint effect' and 'gilding' skills to good use.

Roger and Kate are divine! I have just returned from taking part in a gilding course and had the most wonderful time. Roger is a fountain of knowledge and a wonderful teacher; Kate is the most delightful host and prepared delicious lunches for the group within her beautiful home. I very much look forward to booking another course with them.
